Hello, my name is Convict, and I’m a 7-year-old Staffordshire Terrier. I live with my dad in Washington state.
One day, my dad noticed the growth on my eye had doubled in size. I couldn’t stop blinking and pawing at it! My dad reached out to his VA social worker, who told him about Feeding Pets of the Homeless, an organization that helps veterans when their pets need medical attention. After calling them, my dad was able to start the process, and once his social worker confirmed his situation, we were given the green light to see a vet.
Our case manager explained that it might take a few days to find someone in our area since Feeding Pets of the Homeless doesn’t have regular partnerships nearby. She made some calls, and thankfully, found a vet. She got us approved for an exam.
At my first visit, the doctor did an exam, ran some bloodwork, and took x-rays. They sent an estimate to our case manager for the surgery to remove my growth, which came out to a bit over the funding they had. But she managed to secure the full amount so I could get the treatment I needed.
My surgery went smoothly, and I was sent home with a cone and some medicine to recover. Just look at me now! I’m no longer blinking or pawing at my face. Thanks to Feeding Pets of the Homeless, I’m feeling like myself again.
My dad says, “Thank you to Feeding Pets of the Homeless for helping veterans in need. Without your support, I’m not sure how I would have been able to pay for Convict’s much-needed surgery. Thank you!”
And I thank you too, for giving me a second chance to see clearly again!
