Every week, we share stories through the eyes of the pets we help. This week, we’d like to share a message from one of their owners instead.
Roxanna and her dad are currently experiencing homelessness together. After losing his business during the pandemic, he lost his home and has been living in his truck with Roxanna. She is his last remaining companion.
When Roxanna developed a large mammary tumor, her dad did everything he could to keep her comfortable while searching for help. Through Feeding Pets of the Homeless, she received the diagnostics and veterinary care she needed, giving her hope for surgery and recovery.
This is what Roxanna’s dad wanted to share:
“I just want Roxanna with me for as long as possible. She’s my family, my companion, and she’s still full of life.
People have told me to give her up because of my situation. They don’t understand the bond we share. Feeding Pets of the Homeless did.
Michelle (our case manager) and everyone at Feeding Pets of the Homeless gave me hope when I felt like I had none. Because of you, Roxanna has a chance to live.
Thank you for your kindness, your compassion, and for believing in us. I thank God for you every day.”
Stories like Roxanna’s remind us that love, hope, and companionship can endure even during life’s hardest moments.
Thank you for helping keep pets and the people who love them together.
