Hi, my name is Sierra.
I’m a 10-month-old Pit Bull living in a car with my mom. Two years ago, my mom’s home was declared unsafe because of structural damage, forcing her to leave. She’s been experiencing homelessness ever since, and now we face life’s challenges together. Through it all, we have each other for comfort and companionship.
One day, while we were out for a walk, I got away from my mom and chased a cat. Before I knew it, a car hit me, breaking my left hind leg.
My mom was terrified. Even though she couldn’t afford veterinary care, she rushed me to an emergency veterinarian, determined to get me help.
The veterinarian took X-rays, confirmed my leg was broken and placed it in a splint, all at no charge. But I needed surgery to repair the damage, and the procedure would cost thousands of dollars.
My mom immediately began searching for assistance. That’s when she found Feeding Pets of the Homeless and completed an Emergency Veterinary Care application.
After I was approved, my case manager worked with the emergency veterinarian to transfer my medical records to a local veterinary hospital willing to perform the surgery. The veterinarian generously agreed to provide much of my care at no cost.
I underwent surgery to repair my broken leg and, during the same visit, was also spayed and received my vaccinations.
Now I’m back with my mom, recovering from surgery and getting the chance to heal by her side. I’m grateful she never gave up on finding the help I needed. 💙
Feeding Pets of the Homeless contributed $2,000 toward my care.
My mom did everything she could to help me after my accident. Thanks to compassionate veterinary professionals and supporters like you, she didn’t have to face the cost of my surgery alone.
