When a pet is in pain, waiting is not an option. But for many, getting help is not that simple.
I’m a 3-year-old pit bull mix living in a van with my dad along the American River. We are currently experiencing homelessness, but we stay together and make the best of each day. I love playing ball and going for walks with him.
Lately, though, I didn’t feel like myself. I was in pain and only wanted to sleep. My dad noticed my ear had become swollen and red, and I kept scratching it until it started to bleed.
He was worried but knew he could not afford an emergency vet visit.
Then he remembered Feeding Pets of the Homeless had helped before with my brother, Ollie. He filled out an application for assistance, and I was approved to see a veterinarian.
At the clinic, the doctor gently cleaned and flushed my ears. They updated my vaccines and sent me home with antibiotics and pain medication to help me heal.
Now I’m back with my dad, feeling better each day and looking forward to running and playing again.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless contributed $507 toward my care.
