Today is all about celebrating the unconditional love our pets give us every single day. They comfort us, protect us, and stand by us no matter what life looks like.
For many people experiencing homelessness, that bond is even more powerful. Their pet is not just an animal. They are family, stability, and hope.
Let’s honor that love today by helping pets like Blondie.
Meet Blondie!
Hi, my name is Blondie.
I’m a 5-month-old Pit Bull mix. I live with my dad in a tent, and we are currently experiencing homelessness. I love going on walks, playing ball with him, and cuddling at night. We are each other’s best friends.
One day, while we were out walking, I saw a squirrel and chased after it. I ran into the street and was hit by a car. I had scratches all over my body, and my leg hurt so badly I could not stand on it. My dad was terrified and rushed me to an emergency veterinarian.
When he explained that he did not have the money to continue my treatment, the clinic gave him a list of resources. That is how he found Feeding Pets of the Homeless.
After a quick application, I was approved for help. The vet took X-rays and discovered I needed surgery on my hip. I was given fluids and pain medication, then the doctor performed surgery to repair my injury.
Now I am back with my dad, resting and healing while we wait for the day I can run and play again.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless contributed $1,500 toward Blondie’s care.
This National Love Your Pet Day, you can help another pet like Blondie receive lifesaving care and stay with the person who loves them most.
