Hi, my name is Lola.
I’m a 2-year-old Chihuahua Pug mix living with my mom in a women’s shelter. I am also my mom’s service animal. My cuddles and calming presence help interrupt her panic attacks and give her space when public places feel overwhelming.
One day, while I was napping in our room, I suddenly became very sick. I kept vomiting and having bloody diarrhea. My mom was terrified she might lose me, but she did not have the money to take me to an emergency vet.
She went to her social worker for help and was given a list of resources. That is when she found Feeding Pets of the Homeless.
After a quick application, my case was reviewed by a case manager, and I was approved for veterinary care.
At the clinic, the doctor ran diagnostics while giving me fluids and an anti-nausea injection. I was sent back with antibiotics and instructions for a bland diet while I recovered.
Now I’m resting with my mom and slowly getting back to myself. I can’t wait to run, play, and keep being there for her, just like she is always there for me.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless contributed $770 toward my care.
