Hi, my name is Bailey.
I’m a 3-year-old Cane Corso and Mastiff mix. Right now, my dad and I are living in his truck because we are currently experiencing homelessness. Life isn’t always easy, but we’ve always had each other. My dad calls me his “gentle giant.” I may be big, but I’m all heart. I love belly rubs, especially from strangers, and I make friends everywhere I go.
One night while we were getting ready for bed, my dad noticed I kept rubbing my left eye. By the next morning, it had become swollen and painful. He knew something was wrong and felt helpless because he couldn’t afford a veterinarian.
Instead of giving up, he reached out to an outreach nurse who had helped him with medical care in the past. She told him about Feeding Pets of the Homeless and encouraged him to apply for assistance.
After completing a quick online application, I was approved to see a veterinarian.
The doctor examined my eye and determined I needed surgery to repair it. After the procedure, I went home with ointment, antibiotics, an e-collar, and plenty of instructions to help me heal.
Now I’m back with my dad recovering, and every day I’m feeling a little better. Before long, I’ll be back to making new friends and asking everyone I meet for belly rubs.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless contributed $1,963 toward my care.
