The WHC Foundation donates to Pets of the Homeless
The WHC Foundation, a private foundation, of Reno, awarded $11,916 to Feeding Pets of the Homeless. The grant was a matching challenge. With support from Northern Nevada communities the deadline was met ahead of time. To date The WHC Foundation has given $45,000 to be used to purchase pet food when necessary, provide emergency veterinary care and wellness clinics to pets that are owned by the homeless, and to purchase animal crates for homeless shelters in Northern Nevada.
The private foundation believes animals make the world a better place. On the other hand, for the majority of the time, society takes them for granted. The foundation was formed to help all animals.
Pets of the Homeless programs have been successful nationally. Having served over 12,000 pets of homeless with veterinary care. Through pet food donation sites a total of 752,109 pounds of pet food and supplies has been distributed by food banks and other agencies that help low income and homeless across the country. The nonprofit is the only national animal organization focused completely on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of the homeless.
