A man who lives in his car in San Diego, CA with his dog, Zeus called Feeding Pets of the Homeless. They have been homeless for 8 months. He is employed and receiving food stamps. He learned about us when searching for resources on the internet. Zeus is a 6-month-old Belgian Malinois.
Zeus had symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. Our client originally took Zeus to another veterinary hospital in the San Diego area where he was diagnosed with parvo. He could not afford treatment at that veterinary hospital. That is when he contacted Feeding Pets of the Homeless. After completing the verification process, we approved an exam at a Partner Veterinary Hospital in San Diego. Zeus received outpatient treatment for the parvo for 3 days. Zeus’ owner would bring his pup to the veterinary hospital and drop him off for the day.
We approved this treatment of daily hospitalization for Zeus for the time period that the veterinary hospital felt was necessary.
We provided financial assistance in the amount of $1,898. Feeding Pets of the Homeless received a discount of $181. The client sent our case manager a text afterwards saying thank you. Zeus is better.
