Success Story: Worra

Success Story: Worra

East Bay Pals contacted Feeding Pets of the Homeless with an emergency. They provided transportation for a homeless woman’s dog named Worra, a one-year-old gold Pit Bull mix, with a possible intestinal blockage. She was lethargic and experiencing loss of appetite and dehydration.

The woman has been homeless for approximately two years in Berkley, CA. She relies on panhandling and receives a small amount of food stamps. We approved an exam at an Animal Clinic in El Sobrante, CA which included abdominal x-rays. The x-rays showed a suspicious linear foreign body which was determined to be a towel Worra ingested.

The Animal Clinic was able to adjust the cost of the surgery to $4,505. Feeding Pets of the Homeless provided assistance in the amount of $1,200. The Animal Clinic provided Feeding Pets of the Homeless discounts in the amount of $175 towards the cost of surgery. The Pet Fund and PAWS also contributed to Worra’s surgery costs.

Worra recovered and is doing well providing support to her owner.

"From one animal lover to another."
