Success Story: Luna

Hello, my name is Luna, and I am a 14-year-old female German Shepherd. My mom and I are experiencing homelessness and stay at the park, in her car or sometimes at friends’ houses. We have been without a home for about two months now in Oakland, CA.

We needed help because I got my foot caught in an escalator and got a deep cut in my pad. My mom was able to get it initially looked at by a veterinarian where they cleaned and bandaged my paw. It was pretty bad and was going to need about three or four more bandage changes that she could not afford. She heard about Feeding Pets of the Homeless from Project Open Paw in San Francisco and gave them a call. Their sweet case manager was able to verify our situation and approve a visit with a partner veterinarian.

I’ve had three bandage changes now and my foot is just about healed up. I also got my rabies vaccination while I was at the vet.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless assisted with $550 for my exam, vaccine and additional bandage changes.
