Success Story: Low Key

Success Story: Low Key

A woman lives in a tent in Sacramento, CA, and has been homeless for about 10 months. She is disabled and receives SSDI and Food Stamps.
She called our office to apply and see if she would qualify for assistance. She was seeking help for her four-month-old, intact Pitbull who had already received his first set of vaccines.
Low Key was vomiting some plastic and was making some gurgling sounds which concerned his owner.
Once an intake was completed and homeless verification was provided, our case manager immediately called a partner veterinarian in her area for exam approval.
Upon pre-approval of the exam, her case manager gave her the information for the veterinary hospital she needed to go to.
An exam was performed, along with x-rays to better see what was causing Low Key to vomit plastic.
Upon further examination, additional foreign bodies were found in Low Key’s stomach. The doctors administered medication to help Low Key vomit up the obstructions. His owner was provided medication to give him until all the obstructions passed. Due to the owners being homeless, Low Key was eating anything he could get into.
Feeding Pets of the homeless was able to contribute about $700 to care for Low Key. Low Key is much better now and has passed the foreign bodies that he had eaten.
We are glad we were able to give this family help, they were very thankful for Feeding Pets of the Homeless and those who donate to help give these pets the care they need. They couldn’t be any more thankful!
