A woman living in a hotel in Atlanta, GA has been homeless for 18 months. She has transportation and receives food stamps.
She called our office to do an intake to see if she qualifies for assistance with us. She was seeking assistance for her 1-year-old male, Labradoodle, Jax. He was chasing a bird one day and fell on his right arm. She shared that the arm was swollen, Jax was limping and could not put pressure on it and he was in a lot of pain.
Once the intake was complete and homeless verification was provided, their case manager immediately called for an exam approval at a partner veterinary hospital. Once pre-approved for the exam, their case manager called and gave her all of the information needed for the ER Hospital.
An exam was performed along with x-rays to better see what was going on with Jax’s arm. The doctor also ordered bloodwork, pain medication and wound care.
It was determined that the arm was fractured so they made a splint for him and gave him pain medication. After several weeks of healing, Jax has made a full recovery and his owner was very appreciative of our help and stated she, “couldn’t have done this without us.”
