This annual event is a nationwide effort to raise awareness and to help local communities across the U.S. raise donations of pet food and supplies for pets of the houseless population.
This year we are trying something different! Want to help pets for Give a Dog a Bone week but can’t host a pet food drive? Start a fundraiser!
A fundraiser is a simple and easy way to get involved, spread awareness and make an impact in the lives of these pets and their humans.
To get started, simply click on the button below and complete some brief information about your fundraiser. You’ll receive an email with a link to your fundraiser that can be shared with your friends and family. You’ll also receive a link to your Fundraiser Dashboard which will allow you to edit your fundraiser details, including setting goals and adding start/end dates, and seeing who has made donations!

We encourage local businesses and communities to participate in the annual week long Pet Food Drive to bring awareness to homelessness and the pets alongside their human companions. Consumers are more likely to purchase from businesses that are socially responsible and connected to a philanthropic cause.

Homelessness continues to be an issue in many cities.
We have received numerous phone calls from Pet Food Providers (food banks, soup kitchens, churches) that are in desperate need for pet food and supplies. This will increase as more people become homeless. Give a Dog a Bone Week brings together over 100 pet food donation sites across America to help address this issue.
Hosting a pet food drive is easy.
-Set up a donation location
-Promote your pet food drive on social media, in your neighborhood, within your community and at work.
-Collect pet food and supply donations.
-Count your donations and submit your report to Feeding Pets of the Homeless
-Drop off donations to a local Pet Food Provider, Food Pantry or Soup Kitchen.

Find a local business in your area by visiting our interactive map. You will enter your city and state to find a donation site. They are indicated by the GREEN marker on the map. Click on the Donation Site you would like to donate to find out their hours of operation. Stop by their locatoin during operating hours to leave your donations in the receptacle they have available, usually somewhere near the front of their business.
Items accepted at donation sites:
-Donations of new dog and cat food and treats (canned and dry)
-Opened dry pet food (must be taped or rebagged to avoid spilling)
-All pet supplies are also needed (new and gently used): leashes, collars, pet shoes, toys, beds, harnesses, bowls, jackets, blankets, brushes
