Today, we’re highlighting our Veteran Pet Support Program, which helps veterans experiencing homelessness access emergency veterinary care, wellness services and support for their pets. For many veterans, their pets are more than companions. They provide protection, emotional support and stability during the hardest chapters of life. Keeping these families together matters. One recent case involved Roxy, a 9-year-old Boxer, whose guardian is a Marine Corps veteran. After losing housing, they were living in a vehicle when Roxy developed a life-threatening infection. A social worker referred them to Feeding Pets of the Homeless, and we helped cover the cost of her emergency surgery so they could stay together. If you are a caseworker, VA housing staff member or service provider working with veterans who have pets, we are here to support your clients.Learn more or request materials: petsofthehomeless.org/veteran-pet-support-program-helps-keep-pets-and-their-heroes-together/Support heroes and their pets. ...
