Success Story: Sonday

My name is Sonday. I am a 16-year-old Shih Tzu and I live in Austin, TX with my unhoused companion. He is a veteran and part of the HUD-VASH program. He is disabled, receives SSI and food stamps.
My paws were bothering me, so my owner reached out for help. He dialed 211 and found Feeding Pets of the Homeless. Their case manager obtained our homeless verification with a call from our social worker at the HUD-VASH program. With the verification, FPOTH approved treatment at one of their Partner Veterinary Hospitals. My owner got a ride from his caregiver to get us to the vet.
After the examination, the veterinarian recommended cytology for my ears, medications for my infected paws, a heartworm test, anal gland expression and they also clipped some of the mats on my fur.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless received a 10% discount from the compassionate veterinary hospital and paid $452 for the visit. My owner was extremely grateful for the care, and I am starting to feel so much better. Thank you!
