Success Story: Lucy

A veteran and client living in CA has been homeless for 3 months. He lives on the streets in a tent with his 1-year-old female, spayed, Belgian Malinois, Lucy. He found out about Feeding Pets of the Homeless from the internet. He said that Lucy fell in a gopher hole while she was running in the park playing and possibly broke her leg.
Lucy was unable to walk on one of her legs. Homeless verification was obtained and added to his file. The client only receives food stamps, has no transportation, and must take the bus. An Animal Hospital near where they live was willing to work with us and able to see Lucy the day after she was hurt.
After the examination, the veterinarian found Lucy’s tibia and other small bones were fractured in the fall. Lucy’s leg was bandaged with a splint and would need about 7 splint changes. Feeding Pets of the Homeless was able to provide financial assistance in the amount of $817 for the initial visit and diagnostics. Feeding Pets of the Homeless was able to give financial assistance for the bandage changes that are needed about 1 a week for 7 weeks at a cost of $159 each.
Pets like Lucy are in need every day, help us save more pets like her by donating today!
