Success Story: Sebastian

Success Story: Sebastian

A homeless man in AZ is currently living in shelter provided by the VA. He is approved for HUD-VASH but has not been able to secure permanent housing yet. He has been homeless for 1 month.
He reached out to Feeding Pets of the Homeless for his 8-year-old, service dog, a male husky named Sebastian.
Sebastian was attacked by another dog at the shelter and appeared to have a dislocated hip.
An intake was completed over the phone and HUD-VASH was verified by VA.
The exam was approved for Sebastian to be seen at a Partner Animal Hospital.
Following the exam, it was determined that Sebastian’s hip was not dislocated but he was suffering from severe glaucoma and tested positive for tick fever. Medications were provided to treat the tick fever and surgery was scheduled to remove the eye affected by glaucoma.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless contributed $1,558 towards Sebastian’s care and received a partner discount in the amount of $59.
