Success Story: Sidney

Success Story: Sidney

A woman has been homeless for 7 years in La Jolla, California, and needs assistance for her dear pet. She called Feeding Pets of the Homeless to see if she can get her 11-year-old male Chihuahua, Sidney, assistance to see a veterinarian.
He is suffering from what his owner thinks are seizures or an allergic reaction to something he ate or has had contact with. She stated that he lays on the floor shivering or acting as if he is having a seizure all while his jaw hangs down and does not close.
As of now, the owner receives food stamps and has no income. An intake was performed and their homeless verification was provided by a Case Manager assisting them in a recovery center.
An examination is pre-approved with a participating Partner Veterinary Hospital. The doctor discovered the pet had severe dental issues and a broken jaw. Diagnostics, extractions, comfort care, and medications are estimated to cost $1,997.
Additional surgery may be needed if the jaw cannot reattach itself and can be very pricey. Sidney is scheduled to have a full mouth extraction due to the severe infection.
Please help us assist more pets like Sidney!
